Vant gjev arkitekturpris i Berlin

The Twist, kunstmuseet på Kistefos som åpnet september 2019, vant nylig Leading Culture Destinations Award «Beste arkitektur» 2020 – av mange omtalt som arkitekturens Oscar. I konkurranse med Nasjonalmuseet i Qatar Doha (Jean Nouvel) og V&A Dundee (Kengo Kuma) i Dundee, Skotland. Overrekkelsen av prisen fant sted i Berlin, 4. Mars.

The Twist er tegnet av de danske arkitektene i BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group og museet har allerede fått mye positiv presse, både her i Norge og i utlandet. The Twist er, blant annet, omtalt som en «must see» cultural destination av New York Times, Bloomberg og The Telegraph.

I forbindelse med tildelingen av prisen for Årets museum 2020, ga direktør ved Kistefos, Birgitte Espeland, uttrykk for stor stolthet. Espeland understreket at The Twist på Kistefos er et modig konsept både hva gjelder design og konstruksjon. Espeland sa videre: « It is a gallery, a bridge and a sculpture, and we are delighted by the recognition this architecturally iconic building is now receiving. The opening of The Twist has helped put Kistefos on the map and increased our visibility globally. We are very much looking forward to presenting exhibitions and artists of international importance and creating memorable visitor experiences in the years to come.

Sesongen 2020 på Kistefos åpner 24. Mai.
